About

Frankie Kartun

Hi there.  My name is Frankie and I’m so pleased that you’ve found your way to my website.  I hope that I may be of service to you in my professional capacity as a freelance editor & proofreader.

I am passionate about anything to do with reading, writing and literary creativity and have broad and wide-ranging interests, skills and experience.  I have a BA Degree (English Major) and over the years have amassed an eclectic editing portfolio comprising manuscripts in many different genres. However, editing subjects of primary interest to me are those relating to autobiographies, memoirs and personal journeys; self-help, coaching, psychology, spirituality, metaphysics, religion, travel, holistic health & healing, the cosmos, arts, education and social welfare, as well as environmental and conservation issues.

I am also an avid reader, writer and researcher, and love all aspects of publishing and the dissemination of information and knowledge. I thoroughly enjoy computer-based work and research, and am always keen to expand my knowledge and skills in all areas.  Being deeply committed to the Planet and the protection of her natural resources, things like conservation, recycling and eco-friendly, sustainable living are also high on my list of priorities, concerns and interests.

In a nutshell, I am a universal person who recognises the oneness and interconnectedness of all things. I hold Life and all living beings sacrosanct, and have a deep desire to serve and contribute to the wellbeing of all.  As a Lightworker, healer, spiritual aspirant and pioneer, I am dedicated to the betterment and upliftment of Humanity and feel that part of my life’s work is to assist with the establishment of the New Earth – in thought, word, deed and action.

We are all multi-faceted, multidimensional beings with much to discover about our inner worlds. As Galileo, the Italian astronomer, said: “You cannot teach people anything. You can only help them discover it within themselves.”  This is one of my central tenets.

Editing Skills & Abilities:

The following briefly details some of the qualities and abilities that I bring to my work:

A stickler for precision and accuracy, I am methodical, innovative and creative, with an ‘eagle’s eye’ for detail, and have:

  • a flair for writing
  • a profound knowledge and understanding of the complexities of the English language, especially with regard to tenses, which seem to be the Achilles’ heel of many a writer
  • an ability to integrate and synthesise information and knowledge from different sources and combine them effectively in new and comprehensive ways (known as consilience)
  • an aptitude for making “intuitive leaps” to ensure the accurate expression of what an author may have been trying to say or convey, but had been unable to find the correct words or way of doing so
  • the capacity to empathise with the writer, often intuit what he/she is trying to put across, and the willingness to go the extra mile to develop the subject further
  • an ability to integrate and synthesise information and knowledge from different sources and combine them effectively in new and comprehensive ways
  • a propensity to provide honest feedback and suggest changes, if necessary, to create a better structure or writing flow and to use words that have a greater impact, while ensuring that grammar and syntax are correct.

I offer meticulous, timely and top-quality service at reasonable rates.

Testimonial

Her enthusiasm and genuine love for what she did was inspirational

I recently worked with Frankie on a publishing project. She was initially appointed to proofread the book. While working with her, we quickly realised we wanted her to do, not just a proof, but a full edit of the book. Her enthusiasm and genuine love for what she did was inspirational. She was extremely committed and went above and beyond with regard to explaining each change she suggested. She was always friendly, polite, patient and happy to discuss things further. She even used her skills and experience to make suggestions on more than just the text, which she communicated very well with the author and myself. I would recommend her highly on any publishing project, when you want somebody who loves and is good at what they do.
